IMS Systems Overview

IMS Fab Track provides an integrated material and management solution for fabrication/modularization and site warehouse activities.

The systems will store data provided by EP management systems and supplier and shop fabrication systems to allow users to view data and compile reports down to the spool mark piece level or at the top end project level.

Systems Overview

MTO Requirements “Demand Module”

  • System stores requirements defined by engineering with a cross link to the shop spool detailing to allow for full material tracking.
  • Capable of downloading drawing/isometric requirements from external systems, 3dmodel/cad systems, and material management systems.
  • Consolidation of demands from various engineering external systems.
  • Cross reference tables for link of client material item codes in comparison with the shop and supplier item codes.
  • Quick comparison of materials required against current material purchase orders and material on hand availability.

  • Request for Information (RFIs) with direct link to each applicable spool can be created and resolved within the system: RFI’s are reflected in status reports and spool status. As RFIs are issued and spools are assigned, the spools are placed on hold.
  • Shipment documents and bar coding of packing slips and spools.
  • Cost forecasting is based on current shop scope of work (weld inch requirements) and the current cost per weld inch by associated WBS.
  • Change Management application allows for tracking of revision changes made by the client or for extra work orders.

Tracking of Module Spool and Steel Fabrication Requirements

  • With the high cost of transporting and crane charges it is critical to ensure that materials are tracked for completeness by module to meet RAS dates.
  • The systems are all designed to allow users to view online or to produce reports by module with status and forecast completion or material eta dates.
  • System has capability of producing consolidated material and equipment reports for modules based on electronic inputs from other systems.
  • The overall goal is to produce single reports from one data base to allow construction and/or fabricators to produce “What If” documents. ie: Can I work on this module or CWP and if not, why?

Material Control

  • Download of material requirements from takeoff system or external material management systems to allow for tracking of material requirements and availability.
  • System function allows for preparation of material requisitions by supplier of commodity code to enable shops to request order releases from project suppliers.
  • Requisition quantities can be provided with automatic pad quantities for current IFC drawings and/or total estimated project requirements by shop location.
  • Order release function to allow shops or site to pull materials as needed for IFC drawings. Pulling only by IFC drawings to eliminate surplus materials at shops and site will reduce material handling.
  • Immediate comparison between actual shop cut sheet detailing and IFC engineering demands and original project engineering MTO requirements to flag additional requirements.
  • MTR/Heat Number traceability to specific components with link to individual spools.
  • Bulk supplier ETA commitments reflected at the spool level.
  • Allocation of materials are based on project fabrication priorities at the spool level.
  • Validate shop claims for shortage of materials.
  • Download of supplier shipments with link to material receiving for issued engineering requisitions.

Cable Reel Management

  • Provides an application to order cable in bulk from a supplier and allows site construction to pull materials for specific lines with assignment to individual reels

Site Trailer Tracking

  • To provide a system to monitor and reduce site demurrage charges for trailers

Document Control

The IMS Document Control application makes available PDF versions of the current revision and revision history of each isometric and spool drawing, as well as engineered tagged item data sheets, materials test reports, LDT tables, weld procedures and pipe support data sheets. Remote access capability allows users to view and print the documents from any location.

The application also helps manage engineering holds, as drawings placed on hold display the hold or RFI notice with related dates of hold notification.

The spool fabrication application provides listing and reporting to identify spools for which drawing revisions were issued after shipments or fabrication completion.

Transportation & Logistics

The IMS Transportation and Logistics application allows users to track shipments through all stages, whether by rail, truck or ocean.

With remote access, clients can allow shipping firms and suppliers/vendors to download up-to-date data directly.  With this type of data capability, the need for costly onsite travel can be eliminated. Shipment documents complete with all aspects of weights and shipment dimensions, as well as PDF photographs, can be linked to the shipment items for online viewing.

Module Planning

Effective planning for the completion of pipe rack or equipment modules and off-shore platforms depends on full, end-to-end visibility of each item required, whether it is a small bore valve, a piece of structural steel, a spool fabricated piece or an engineered tagged item.

With IMS Fabtrack, a module yard can determine the status of each and every piece on the module from requisition and purchase to fabrication status and delivery. Module coordinators can post status pictures of the modules, allowing remote access users to view current photographs of the units as well as their fabrication status.

Planet Maintenance/Shut Downs

IMS have grouped several of the IMS system applications to be used when a plant enter into shutdown work environment. Other options such as purchasing and the full warehouse applications will also be available. This menu option will provide details for status of materials and fabrication plus installation for looking at specific shutdown work packages. Materials can be reviewed for entire packages with updated details for purchasing, receiving, fabricated items, bagging of items ready for issue and installation details. The material requirements can be validated against current inventory of materials on hand or currently on outstanding purchase orders to determine;

  • Scheduling and a forecast of then other remaining where materials are not yet on hand

Tagged Equipment

The IMS Tagged Equipment application tracks all aspects of engineered tagged items, from placement of the purchase order to fabrication and shipment to receipt, installation and preservation during storage and prior to startup.

Tagged equipment items are linked to construction work packages, module and platform assembly and the planning application, allowing for viewing or running of look ahead reports and status details.

Critical details are known ahead of the shipment of tagged items, avoiding cost overruns in transportation and offloading at end destinations. With remote access capabilities for users, reports can be viewed or run to identify current status, as well as estimated and actual delivery details.
